d - All of the above- The EJ movement has radically changed its concept of the environment in the past decade, and is a multi-issue and multi-racial movement.

Environmental justice has prioritized people as an important piece of the environment that need protection as well and, importantly, recognized that poor communities of color bear a large and disproportionate share of problems.

Since the birth of the EJ movement at Summit I in 1991, the movement has grown tremendously and is a multi-issue, including links between toxics and public health worker and community safety, land use, housing and transportation, and economic development with environmental sustainability. Language and cultural barriers often restrict people of color and from democratic participation and decisionmaking. This lack of power, especially in immigrant and refugee communities, often is at the heart of why corporations pollute our environments and why regulatory agencies turn their heads away. Ten years later at Summit II, hundreds of activists convened again to broaden the scope of EJ and to make deeper connections to economics and globalization.
